The 2016 season started off at the most Northern track on the calendar, North Yorkshire’s Croft Circuit. Which was the first of two visits to the circuit for this season.
Even though Hills made a shaky start, spinning out on the first corner of the first heat. He then showed his class and won the remaining two heats in a commanding style notching up two wins and a fastest lap time of the day of 51.438.
He started in P2 for his semi-final but was in front into the first corner where he would stay until he took the flag earning him pole for the final. In a gutsy late breaking move he stole the lead from Jake Taylor, where he didn’t look back and with every lap put time into the rest of the field eventually taking the checker flag near 3 seconds ahead his nearest rival.
The second round of the championship moves south to Lydden Hill in Kent over the Easter weekend Sunday 27th and Monday 28th March.
Aidan Hills, #8: “Absolutely Buzzing!!! Coming home from Croft with a First Place Trophy and FTD, definitely made the 6-hour drive home easier!
The first heat couldn't have gone much worse, had two collisions, and was driving like an idiot! I got my act together in the 2nd and 3rd heat winning them both leaving me starting P2 for my Semi Final. I got the best start and took the lead into the first corner, and held it all the way to the end, putting me on Pole for the Main Final! I got an average start but managed to out brake Jake Taylor into turn 1, and he was right on my back bumper for the first 2 laps, I then managed to start to pull a bit of gap and let the boys behind battle it out which let me concentrate on what I was doing and come away with the win! I’m over the moon starting the year with a win and can't thank my Dad, David and my Grandad enough for all their support and help this weekend, couldn't have done it without them!’
